Obtaining Ofuda
Ofuda spawn inside locked boxes after prerequisite objectives (keys, safes, dolls, rituals). Open box with E while key equipped, collect charm to hotbar. Pickup triggers hunt phases — plan wardrobe routes before opening.
Shop sells cosmetic or bonus ofuda variants on some patches — story clears require box ofuda unless event modes say otherwise.
Placement Mechanics
Equip ofuda, aim at hallway floor. Ghost outline turns green on valid tiles — usually central corridor paths PETAPETA patrols. Invalid tiles stay red/transparent.
- Place with left mouse or interact key per platform.
- Do not place inside guest rooms — exorcism requires hallway intersection.
- Multiple green tiles may exist; choose widest patrol intersection you can reach safely.
Baiting PETAPETA Successfully
After placement, stand behind ofuda facing spirit approach direction (audio panning helps). You want PETAPETA to walk over paper, not spot you standing offset.
If hunt triggers before spirit reaches charm, hide in wardrobe — ofuda persists on floor. Resume baiting after calm. Charm does not expire on time limit.
Exorcism VFX plays on contact — level completes, Zeni awards, next floor unlocks.
Advanced Ofuda Tips
Chapter 2 may require multiple ofuda on seal-array floors — place in sequence HUD indicates. School of Nightmares uses spirit seals with identical mechanics.
Never sprint-drop ofuda during Tier 3 hunts — death drops do not count as placement. Calm windows only.
Pair with Monsters page lore to understand why hallway placement matters narratively (spirit bound to corridor geometry).
